The Millau Viaduct Celebrates its 20th Anniversary

On December 14, 2004, Jacques Chirac, President of the French Republic, inaugurated the Millau Viaduct in front of the eyes of the world. To mark its 20th anniversary, the city of Millau is offering 20 days of celebration, until September 22, 2024. Highlights include a major concert by Yannick Noah, the Eiffage Millau Viaduct Race in Aveyron, outdoor cinema, an exhibition, a conference... and even a pastry and chocolates specially created for the occasion. Photo Exhibition: "The Millau Viaduct Celebrates its 20th Anniversary"

To celebrate this milestone, the most beautiful photos submitted during the open contest (from July 15 to August 11, 2024) will be displayed at the viaduct area and Quai Sully Chaliès in downtown Millau.



Friday, September 6 at 6:30 PM



Conference: "The Millau Viaduct, the Story of an Extraordinary Construction"

This conference will recount the project’s origins, the challenges of construction, and the unique highway concession. The main actors of this extraordinary construction will be present, such as Jean-Claude Mutel (Deputy General Director of the Eiffage company for the Millau Viaduct), Marc Buonomo (Director of Civil Engineering at Eiffage), Claude Servant (Technical Director) and Imed Ben Fredj (Deputy Technical Director for the Millau Viaduct), as well as Michel Virlogeux, Chief Engineer of Ponts et Chaussées and designer of the viaduct.

Special Broadcast on Autoroute Info

For those unable to attend the conference, a radio show will be recorded on Saturday, September 7. Broadcast from the viaduct area viewpoint, the show will gather many of the conference speakers, along with local officials sharing their perspectives on the viaduct and its impact on the region.

Mapping at the Hôtel de Tauriac, Millau

Projected onto the façade of the Hôtel de Tauriac, the video mapping "Dream of a Bridge" offers a spectacular poetic journey on the theme of bridges, symbols of humanity's connection to the world and to others.

Every evening at 8:15 PM and 9:00 PM

Outdoor Cinema Evening

Tightrope walker Nathan Paulin will be the special guest of this evening to present his film The Angel's Line.

Flyover by the Patrouille de France

After flying over the structure on inauguration day and again for its 10th anniversary, the Patrouille de France returns to light up the skies of Millau once more, delighting both young and old, between 11:15 AM and 11:45 AM.



Yannick Noah Concert

The city of Millau invites you to a major concert by Yannick Noah, free for all, at La Maladrerie. He will be joined by local artists and DJs for this family-friendly evening starting at 6:30 PM.

Nathan Paulin's Performance (Tightrope Walker) during the Eiffage Millau Viaduct Race in Aveyron

Nathan Paulin will cross the distance between two pylons of the Millau Viaduct on a polyester line just two centimeters wide, 90 meters above the road, during the Eiffage Millau Viaduct Race in Aveyron.
