Eiffage Énergie Systèmes helps Saint Joseph Saint Luc Hospital achieve sustainable energy performance

Saint Joseph Saint Luc Hospital has taken a major step forward in its drive for energy efficiency by signing a 10-year Energy and Environmental Performance Contract (EEPC) with Eiffage Énergie Systèmes.

This ambitious partnership aims to reduce the facility's annual energy consumption by 40%, while ensuring long-term security for its technical infrastructures.
A tangible response to environmental, economic and health issues
Saint Joseph Saint Luc Hospital, originally built in 2002, had not yet undergone any major renovation of its electrical, ventilation or heating systems. Today, against a backdrop of rising energy costs and more stringent regulatory requirements, this major project aims to:
  • Modernize the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems
  • Reinforce electrical safety
  • Reduce the site's carbon footprint
  • Guarantee continuity of care, without interrupting hospital activities.
A complex technical project led by Eiffage Énergie Systèmes
Eiffage Énergie Systèmes' teams have drawn up an offer suited to Saint Joseph Saint Luc Hospital's specific requirements and eligible for Energy Savings Certificates (EEC). It includes measures to improve energy performance and a binding 10-year operation-maintenance contract. This offer also helps to meet the targets set by the tertiary sector decree, which calls for a 40% reduction in energy consumption in buildings by 2030.
The work will involve :
  • Replacing the hospital's high-voltage components to ensure electrical safety in the complex for more than 20 years
  • Renovating the 50 air handling units, by replacing internal components while preserving the existing structures: a responsible choice that preserves the current technical spaces, and reuses and enhances the value of facilities that are still functional
  • Replacing chillers and ventilation systems, thus guaranteeing energy performance monitoring and control.
With this approach, the project optimizes investment by re-using long-lasting facilities, while securing and modernizing the entire technical network.
Last but not least, the hospital has set up a dedicated technical team to ensure rigorous monitoring of the contract and performance throughout the project.
Work will start in autumn 2025, following a design phase.
Delivery is scheduled for late 2026, with no impact on service continuity.
A win-win, forward-looking partnership
“This project illustrates our determination to preserve continuity of care by securing our entire infrastructure, but also to gain energy autonomy and reduce our environmental footprint. It's a concrete, long-term commitment to energy transition by Saint Joseph Saint Luc Hospital,” said Gilles Chambry, Director of Property, Purchasing and Operations at the hospital.

“Our teams are proud to be co-building this makeover with Saint Joseph Saint Luc Hospital. This partnership is proof that energy efficiency, technical excellence and public health services can go hand in hand,” pointed out Eiffage Énergie Systèmes - Clévia Centre-Est Branch Manager François Brenac.
