In Montpellier, a 384-meter-long cycling gallery, a first in France

As part of the redevelopment of the Comédie tunnel, our Eiffage Génie Civil teams are assisting the Montpellier metropolitan area in creating a new urban axis to connect the Comédie and Antigone sectors in two minutes.

Started in July 2024, the first two phases of construction of this gallery are now complete, with the creation of:

  • two reinforced concrete fire-resistant separation walls of 110 m and 140 m respectively;
  • vehicle and bicycle access between the tunnel and levels -2 and -3 of the Comédie car park.

The final phase includes the construction of a 130 m fire-resistant wall and will take place between July and September 2025.

The structure, currently under "Mont-Blanc" regulations, will be completely transformed into a space dedicated to soft mobility, contributing to the creation of new regulations that did not previously exist.

Congratulations to our teams involved in this large-scale project!

Creating safe and innovative cycle paths to improve urban mobility makes a difference!
