The consortium comprises Eiffage Construction (lead contractor), Pradeau Morin, Normandie Renovation, Business lines du Bois, and CRAM SAS. The project includes several works programmes, with some to be carried out simultaneously:
- Identical reconstruction of the bays of the East wing that disappeared in the 19th century, using high-quality materials such as cut stone.
- Restoration of the East Wing’s five surviving north bays to consolidate the structures and emphasise their architectural detail.
- Layout of the interior spaces on the abbey’s different levels to create spaces that meet the needs of the monastic community while highlighting the building’s architectural heritage.
- Creating convenient routes for people with reduced mobility to make the abbey accessible to all.
Project management has been entrusted to the chief architect for historic monuments, Pierre Bortolussi & Associés, with support from architect Philippe Schiellein and design consultants CIPB and ACTIF, together with Cabinet ECOVI and Impédance Ingénierie.
The renovation of this 1,400-year-old listed historic monument will draw upon the expertise of teams from Pradeau Morin, the Eiffage Construction subsidiary specialising in heritage restoration, for the heavy construction and cut-stone masonry work.
In consideration of the site’s heritage and environmental value, particular attention will be paid to the protection of watercourses (La Fontenelle), ancient trees, and archaeological remains.
Works will commence in November, on completion of the study and preparation phases, with handover scheduled for November 2027.
