Eiffage Énergie Systèmes takes part in the waste recycling project for a plant in Viviez

Eiffage Énergie Systèmes is proud to be involved in a ground-breaking and meaningful project to build the KEREA waste-to-energy plant* in Viviez, Aveyron. The project is to run until the end of July 2025 and marks a key step towards more sustainable and responsible waste management.

In March 2020, the public service delegation contract was awarded to Solena by the Sydom, Aveyron's waste management authority. The project involves the creation and operation of a waste sorting and recovery unit, including a dedicated biowaste stream. Solena develops innovative industrial solutions to optimize waste recovery and support the region.

 

Our teams of experts will be deploying three transformer substations on the site, crucial for supplying power to the entire plant, and to the process equipment in particular. Eiffage Energie Systèmes is acting as contractor for this project, which is being carried out in partnership with ELIT. Our teams have been mobilized to lay 24 kilometers of cable and install three 20 kV MV transformer substations.

 

The KEREA plant in figures:

  • 2 hectares of surface area
  • 250,000 hours of labour
  • An active commitment to biodiversity: 5,000 trees planted and 27 ponds
  • 5,600 tonnes of material recycled each year (ferrous and non-ferrous metals, cardboard, wood)
  • 3,000 tonnes of compost produced per year
  • 3,100 MWh of biomethane produced to supply local households.

By building this waste-to-energy plant, our teams are making a tangible contribution to energy transition and a more sustainable future. The Viviez project embodies our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, recovering bio-waste and improving our infrastructure’s energy performance. It is also part of our approach to preserving biodiversity, at the heart of the regions in which we operate.



Waste-to-energy plant* : Unlike a landfill, a waste-to-energy plant transforms waste into resources. These can be materials (such as metal or wood), energy or compost. It is a key link in the circular economy.
