As part of the launch of festivities to celebrate its half century, the Parc des Oiseaux de Villars-les-Dombes and APRR are joining forces once again to run a prize competition on their Facebook and Twitter accounts during the month of October 2018. The winners will enjoy free tickets to the sanctuary and experience unforgettable encounters with nature including a visit to the new three-hectare “African Mosaic” area opened in April 2018!
Located to the north-east of Lyon, not far from the A42, A46 and A432 motorways, the Parc des Oiseaux invites visitors to go on an extraordinary and unique journey across a world with no borders and to immerse themselves in an exceptional myriad of birds evolving in their natural environment. Boasting 3,000 birds of 300 different species spread across 35 hectares, the sanctuary is home to one of the largest collections in Europe.
Bird names!
Based on original bird photos and clues gradually disclosed on the main social networks over four weeks, the two partners are asking internet users to find the vernacular (usual) names of certain remarkable species living at the sanctuary. The winners will then have the pleasure of discovering them on site with a free day pass along with a magical show entitled “Birds in Flight”. From the stands, they will watch a fantastical ballet of birds in flight, full of grace and colour. These displays are the fruit of the passionate labour of the trainers who train pelicans, cranes, African marabou storks, ground hornbills and various species of parrots.
The prize competition runs until 28 October 2018 and can be found on the Facebook accounts of APRR and the Parc des Oiseaux, as well as on Twitter:
