Eiffage Route inaugurates LEA plant, Perreux (42), for greener roads

Industrialization product development process, vegetable binder production previously small quantity. New LEA (Binders and Emulsions of the Future) plant, built with Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region support under project call, enables industrial-scale production.

From waste valorization process, vegetable binders advantageously replace traditional bitumen in mix production.

Vegetable mixes incorporate recycled materials, mainly from old roads, in proportions ranging from 25% to 100% depending on configuration, while significantly lowering production temperatures.

Solutions offered by new production unit adapt to various road types (from highways to bike paths...) thanks to diversity and performance of Eiffage Route's vegetable mix range: CarbonLight, Biophalt, Bioklair, Recytal and Biocold.

Building also designed to reduce carbon and energy impact of industrial tools: demolition and removal of gas boilers, installation of solar panels, electrification of all processes... optimizing production efficiency and contributing to industry decarbonization.

Plant will reach annual production of 8,000 tons of binders in coming years.

This decarbonized solution also addresses communities' challenges for carbon neutrality by 2050.

Given growing success of this vegetable range, another plant already under construction in Northern France.
