The Port of Marseille Fos selects the project lead by Eiffage for the construction and maintenance of its new headquarters

Concluding a process that began in July 2023, the Port of Marseille Fos signed today the partnership contract for construction of its new headquarters with an Eiffage-led consortium.

Eiffage, through Eiffage Concessions, has been awarded this partnership contract including the financing, design, construction and maintenance of the new Port of Marseille Fos headquarters. The project, worth a total €120 million, also includes an ambitious property development component to develop adjacent land.

The Port’s new headquarters and training institute will boast a combined floor area of 8,800 m2 and are targeting the BDM Argent and HQE Excellent certifications. Works will be carried out in design-build mode by a consortium that includes Eiffage Construction (lead contractor), the architects Corinne Vezzoni & Associés and Matonti-Politi Architecture & Patrimoine, and the engineering consultants Projex and TPFI, alongside Eiffage Énergie Systèmes and Eiffage Génie Civil. The new headquarters will host the Port’s employees from 2028.

The project will transform the whole block around this new building, since it also includes the renovation of the double 19-century heritage hangar known as “J0”. On delivery in 2030, the site will feature office buildings, a port centre, museum space, auditorium, shops and restaurants covering a total 16,600 m2 . Teams from Eiffage Immobilier will take responsibility for this land development, applying its builder-developer model.

“The port’s current headquarters is more than 50 years old,” explains Hervé Martel, Chairman of the Port of Marseille Fos Management Board. “For our employees, our customers and our partners, our public-sector establishment needed its facilities to meet 21st-century standards. This building, to be erected in the Place de la Joliette, will have real symbolic meaning. It will reflect a port more open to the city, embracing its modernity, and pursuing its growth and activity, including on the southern edge.”

Eiffage Concessions Director Cécile Cambier adds: “We are extremely proud of the trust the Port of Marseille Fos has shown in the Eiffage Group and its partners for the realisation of this turnkey project combining new construction and architectural renovation, for which we are also providing all the financing.”

The Port of Marseille Fos and Eiffage invite you to the unveiling of the architectural plans end of September 2025.
