Eiffage named preferred candidate for the concession of the Reims Events Centre

The Mayor of Reims, Arnaud Robinet, and the President of the Grand Reims urban community, Catherine Vautrin, announced on 25th June that the consortium headed by Eiffage Concessions had just been named preferred candidate by the contracting authority for the design, construction, financing and operation of the Reims Events Centre, as well as the renovation and operation of the Exhibition Centre and the Conference Centre. The 25-year contract represents a total investment of over 75 million euros.

The consortium, leaded by Eiffage Concessions, comprises Eiffage Construction, GL Events, which will operate the facilities, while architects Wilmotte et Associés / Thienot Ballan Zulaica and design consultancies BEA / Peutz / Scène / Terrell will take on the design work.

The Events Centre will host events (9,000 guests capacity) and sports competitions, most notably the matches of the CCRB, the local basketball team (5,500 seat capacity).

The renovated Conference Centre will be delivered in October 2019, the refurbished Exhibition Centre in February 2021 and the Events Centre in October 2021. An average of 150 people will be employed on the project.

The City Council meeting on 24 September 2018 will confirm this choice ahead of signature of the contract.

Eiffage will set great store by involving local SMEs in the works and recruiting personnel as part of a professional integration measure to meet the project’s requirements.

This contract demonstrates the city’s confidence in the Eiffage group, which employs nearly 500 staff in the Reims urban area.
