Eiffage Sénégal : the Maison Ousmane Sow opens in Dakar

On Saturday 5 May, the house of sculptor Ousmane Sow opened its doors to the general public in Dakar, Senegal. As an extension to - and part of - Dakar's 13th African Arts Biennial, Eiffage is presenting the exhibition "In the world of Ousmane Sow" (Dans l'univers d'Ousmane Sow) at its premises.

Ousmane Sow dreamt of it, his children achieved it

The works of the artist who died in 2016 have been brought together under one roof in Dakar by Eiffage Sénégal who transported and installed them in the various rooms of his house and were also involved in the exhibition's scenography. The African series, "Merci" series, small Nouba sculptures and unfinished works were installed in the maze of rooms with their multicoloured tiles made of the same material as his sculptures - as if telluric forces in the floor had prepared it to receive the works of art. The rooms will be named after Ousmane Sow's  father and friends, according to the wishes of the sculptor.
Ousmane Sow's talent as an artist was universally recognized in 1999 with the exhibition of his series "La Bataille de Little Big Horn" on the Pont des Arts in Paris.

"We had developed a father-and-son relationship, so I talk about him like a son I'm proud of...This exhibition entitled "In the world of Ousmane Sow" celebrates these 20  years of intense friendship". Gérard Sénac
